I've just heard (via facebook, so take it with a grain of salt) that the Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket Tuesday's memorial service for Eve Carson.

I'm not sure that there are words to express how sickening this is. If I continue to hear that they're planning to show up, I may well be skipping class to go dress in white and stand in front of these bastards to block them from view.

UNC is a very liberal school, and among the oldest in the US South. I'd imagine that's the logic, but it's about as twisted as their picketing the funerals of soldiers.

According to the facebook group that's protesting the protest, they say she was "struck down by god." It's supposedly on their website and their picketing schedule, but I haven't gone to look personally because I've heard that they get advertising money based on click traffic, and I don't want to give them that. Does make it a bit frustrating to verify it all, though.

MOTHER FUCKERS. You know, I was talking to my dad about this. Think about it, they are going to be surrounded by thousands of already emotional and angry college students. And they are about to start screaming at them that her death is because of all the gay people in america. I wouldn't be suprised if some of the college students get violent. It would be hard for me not to just rip their heads off.

Good goddess, that's disgusting. There's a group that's going to dress in white and stand in front of them if they show up. I didn't know Eve Carson, but I'm certainly willing to take a stand against this kind of shit.

Your dad's right though, there's likely to be violence if they do show. The police may well be in riot gear.
