The anti-abortion people have upgraded. There's a two story structure in the brickyard, complete with multiple, six foot high, very graphic pictures of late term aborted fetuses.
You know, I've gotten used to every religion under the sun trying to convert us, and I even find the various preachers screaming that we're all going to hell rather amusing at times. It's free speech, after all. But I draw the line at something that makes me want to puke as I walk past. News sources self-censor to warn subscribers of disturbing images. Shouldn't the same apply to public discourse?

Date: 2008-10-20 06:37 pm (UTC)I'm helping a friend of mine who works at the Planned Parenthood in Chapel Hill put together a handout about abortion and contraceptives that will be passed out to students. This is from a PP email we got about the events:
Imagine you're back on campus, attending classes....one October morning on your way to class, you're assaulted by an 18 foot photo billboard with images of the Holocaust, Cambodian genocide, racial lynchings and supposed "aborted fetuses." Fifteen distorted images litter the landscape.
What's more? Your student fees brought them here!
This is the actual situation facing UNC Students in the coming weeks. The Student Body Congress allocated 10% of their discretionary funds to Carolina Students for Life to bring this abhorrent exhibit to campus. This inflammatory display does nothing to contribute to an open dialog about the causes for unintended pregnancy-the number one cause of abortion.
Does this sound like the exhibit on NCSU?
