I have come to the conclusion that something important must happen between the hours of 7 and 8 am in my sleep cycle. That's the only explanation I can come up with for why I am so exhausted after working 28 of the last... whatever 4x24 is, I really don't care enough to get out a calculator right now, and even less to do it in my head. Why is it that I'm just fine going 8, 10, even 12 hours if I'm able to sleep until 8 am, but I'm dragging after 5 if I have to get up at 7? It makes no sense. Granted, working at an emergency animal hospital is incredibly draining, especially working kennel, but I was able to come up with a nice energy surge on Sunday to help catch kitties when we had an emergency C-section come in. Maybe it's the surroundings as opposed to the time I get up. Kennel is boring, annoying and exasperating, to say the least. Your entire purpose is to clean up after every animal that pisses, shits or sheds, which all of them do on a regular basis, the soundtrack to the day is various dogs and occasionally cats barking incessantly and the surroundings are dank and dim. Who wouldn't drag a bit? But having the exhaustion from kennel carry over to assistant training today, now that annoys me. I got seven hours of sleep last night, there was no reason I should have been fighting a headache the entire day, especially when the assistant's job is actually interesting. Oh well. I can sleep in tomorrow, I don't have to leave the house until 9:30, and I'll be back to my nice cheery sarcastic self all ready for work on wednesday. I'm sure they can't wait:)
