winterthunder | Green Day

I seriously was on my feet bouncing for two and a half hours. It totally rocked! Jimmy Eat World opened at 7:30 and they were pretty good, I might look into getting some of their music. I wonder if it's a coincidence that Green Day has the thread of Saint Jimmy running through American Idiot and Jimmy Eat World doing their opening. So anyway, Green Day came on around 8:40 and it was solid music for the next two hours. They started with American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday, all the stuff that's been playing lately. Holiday was "a rousing 'Fuck You' to all those politicians". I love that:) The lead singer said his name was George W Bush when he was introducing the band and everyone booed. Then he said "I am an asshole" and everyone started cheering again! Not a republican in the house:) Great!

There were a lot of pyrotechnics and special effects, pictures on a big screen and flashing lights and stuff, which was really cool. They pulled some people from the floor to come up on stage, which made me wish we had gotten tickets for the floor. Next time, I guess. The floor with such a large group would have been sort of hard, that's probably better for a couple to do. But they pulled this little kid to help squirt the crowd with a water gun at one point, and then there was this other time where they pulled people to play the instruments they were playing and create a new band. It made me wish Joe had been there, it would have been so awesome if he had gotten to do that. The people who played drums and base were pretty good, and then the first girl they got to play guitar didn't know what she was doing and it was really funny to watch, then the second guy was like 16 and Billie Joe was like "Hey kid, have you ever been laid?" and the kid's like "No" and he goes "Well you're going to tonight!!". The kid was good but too cocky, and they gave the guitar he was playing to the first girl that had tried.

And they played the masturbation song, which was totally awesome to see performed live. Wow. Really. That's a really good way to describe it. Wow. They're really active on stage, constantly jumping around and up onto these boxes that were placed around randomly and using a lot of props and playing the guitars backwards, upside down, behind their heads, with their teeth, etc. I was sad when it was over, I wished it could have gone on for a lot longer. I suspect my knees, feet and voice will be rather annoyed with me tomorrow, but that's ok, that concert was totally worth it.

In other news, I am no longer a kennel worker! Yay, I will have weekends again!!! And I don't have to work this weekend which makes me even happier!!
