Jul. 27th, 2008 10:52 pmI would like to state at this moment how completely and totally I despise itunes. I deleted my entire music library and re-imported it because the apple "genius" said that doing so would force itunes to re-code the links between the application and the music folder, which had somehow become corrupted, thus "losing" 6 gigs of music. When that finished last night, my missing music was nowhere to be seen. Oh well, says I, I'll just re-organize all 300 or so playlists that just got deleted and import those onto the new ipod. I've promised the 20G to someone here, so I have to finish transferring things to the 40 before I leave so that I can keep my promise. So I spent a couple of hours re-organizing playlists, and started importing them an hour ago, only to find that they still won't import cleanly when they imported perfectly fine during a test run last night.
Please pardon me while I go bang my head against a wall.
I'm beginning to think that my best option is going to be comparing the contents of the 20 with my current itunes library, fighting the repeated error messages to upload the differences to the 20, then deleting my library again and using an ipod rip program to restore the music and immediately upload it to the 40. It appears that my hard drive is not a safe place for my music in any way, shape or form. I have a suspicion that the longer things are on there, the more files become corrupted. Perhaps it might do some good to re-install itunes, but I'm hesitant to do that without an expert standing by, and that will have to wait until I'm back in Raleigh.
*sigh*
I think I'm going to have to ask for an address from the guy I promised the 20 to and send it to him later. I don't see how I can get everything done in the next two weeks and keep up my writing schedule, and my writing is more important to me at this point. Unless... anyone know of a program that allows you to transfer between ipods, preferably without using itunes as the intermediate? That might work...
Fucking itunes.
