Apr. 6th, 2007 12:04 pmI just read a story about a group of churches in my area that gave up carbon for Lent. Or reduced their emissions. Now that's a Lenten vow I could get behind. It makes a lot more sense to me than my mother's abstainment from sugar or my aunt's decision to give up Starbucks. Cause, y'know, when you consider the fact that Jesus gave up food the sacrifice seems laughably tiny. But carbon... it still seems inconsequential compared to the supposed original, but at least it's something that will make a difference and has the potential to spread and change people's habits.
