To brave the trials of Crabtree
Oct. 14th, 2006 09:34 pmMy mother and I went on an epic shopping trip today. We were in search of a suit jacket and went in to no fewer than nine stores before we found one that had sleeves that were long enough. The cut was not exactly what I would have chosen, but after the fourth hour I was not about to suggest that we keep looking. It is black, so it matches well with my dress pants (which I need to let the hem out on tomorrow) and it is cut to fit to my waist and flare slightly as opposed to falling straight.
We also stopped at Penny's to pick up a pair of black formal boots. I ended up getting the exact same style that I already have in brown because after trying on a few other pairs it quickly became obvious that we could be embarking on another four hour quest if we wanted anything different. I know the boots are comfortable and they were on sale and I am nothing if not practical, so onto the credit card they went. We rounded out our purchases with a thigh length pea coat in a lovely deep red. It matches with the rest of the outfit perfectly and I will be able to wear it with plenty of other formal outfits in the future. I am making another cloak that will be a bit more refined than the first, but it's still not appropriate for Washington DC. I'd probably be searched as a suspected terrorist.
I'm quite happy with all that I've accomplished over break. Thusfar I've made dinner twice, cleaned out my tent, cut the material for my new cloak, scrubbed out the fishtank and set it up with fresh gravel, water and a new filtration system, gone on an epic shopping trip and knocked out my written assignments. Tomorrow I'm planning on studying for the three tests I have next week, adding on to a pair of jeans, sewing my cloak together, letting down the hem on my dress pants and hanging out with Ali, if she's around. Repotting my bonsai would be a plus, if there's time, but it may have to wait until next weekend. It also appears that I will not get around to finishing chapter 9 either:( Ah well, I've been productive so I shall focus on what I've accomplished instead of what I've not gotten around to.
