My sister and I went to get haircuts yesterday. She had 10 inches cut off for Locks of Love. She has a sophisticated looking cut now that's layered in the back and comes around just under her ears. Her hair is really thick and wavy and when it's dry she looks a lot like Mom.
Joe didn't notice at all, which was really funny because it was such a dramatic difference. He sat through dinner and then after dinner Dad handed him the bag that had Kate's ponytail in it and asked if it was his. There was this hilarious silence, where his face went from blank to confused and he goes "No it's not, it's Kate's..." and runs from the kitchen to the dining room to look at her. He's so clueless sometimes!
Mom and Kate and I went out today in the manual to run some errands. Mom is really not a good backseat driver and Kate couldn't decide for 30 minutes before and after we left if she actually wanted to go. I should have just gone on my own and paid for the stuff myself, it certainly would have been easier.
I got offered another job a few days ago. It looks dead boring and has nothing to do with my area of interest, but I e-mailed and asked today if they would be willing to let me work until the grant money for the avian influenza project comes in. If they don't have anyone else, I don't see why they wouldn't be willing since the work doesn't seem like it requires large amounts of training. We'll see. I've probably guaranteed the grant will come in by trying to arrange something else.
We're having hot dogs for dinner again tonight. Sigh. I wonder how many times I'll be able to choke down this family dinner staple before I snap and throw them all in the woods behind the house. Perhaps I could steal them under the cover of night each time Mom buys them and dispose of them in an appropriate location. Or I could just tell her I intensely dislike them...
